Levitt is widely considered to be the creator of the postwar suburb. (A) He
began construction on his first development in 1947. Built in New York, it
would be the first of many Levittown communities constructed during the
post-World War II era. (B)
During the following decade, Levitt¡¯s company built tens of thousands of
single-family homes that were popular for their affordability and
state-of-the-art features. For instance, his homes in Levittown, Pennsylvania,
and Levittown, New Jersey, were available to new homeowners for a down payment
of only 100 dollars. Residents enjoyed access to amenities like swimming pools,
parks, and playgrounds. (C)
Although most projects such as these were located in the United States, Levitt
also completed projects outside the country. In 1963, a Levittown development
brought the suburban lifestyle to the shores of Levittown, Puerto Rico. ¨ç (A) ¡ª (B) ¡ª (C) ¨è (A) ¡ª (C) ¡ª (B) ¨é (B) ¡ª (A) ¡ª (C)
